Happy Birthday Mommy

>> Friday, March 19

Happy Birthday to the best mommy in the world!!!!!!!! I love you more than sprinkles and chocolate pudding. I love you more than springtime and roses. I even love you more than those other children of yours, David and Cindy.

To the woman who is a shining example of the true essence of womanhood and has proven by example that grace, dignity, poise and character are true virtues, I say Happy Birthday.

I told you once before that superman has nothing on you, because he could never, ever remotely do all that you do. How do you find the time to be a professional woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, best friend, counselor, pastor's wife, co-pastor and all the other titles that you hold? I will never, ever know. Even in the midst of your hectic schedule you still find time to make sure that David, Cindy and I are never without. If I can grow up to be just half of the woman that you are than I know that I will be the better for it.

Thank you for being the perfect template of a Proverbs 31 woman and being my first and most important role model. God could have given me to any mother but I am so thankful that He gave me to you. You taught me and instilled in me the love of God and to respect others. You taught me that it's not enough to be pretty, but I have to be pretty and smart. You taught me that true beauty starts on the inside and with me, so I wouldn't fall hard for the first man who told me I was beautiful. From you I've learned that it's okay if I fight a boy who is picking on me, even if I'm in a dress and that if I do fight I had better win. Through you I've learned to always use the good china, lay out a table and always have proper dining etiquette. I've learned that the details DO matter and that if you do it right the first time, you won't have to revisit it again. You taught me to not only just trust what I hear or see but to trust what I know. You told me that a person couldn’t say or do anything that is not already within them. Most importantly, I simply learned from you to be a woman.

Thank you for your words, whether I want to hear them or not. Thank you for your honesty and patience. Thank you for being the best teacher I could ever have. Thank you for teaching and showing me the world; I have experienced so much in my short existence than some people will ever in their whole entire life because of you. Thank you for not allowing me to give up on myself when I wanted to. Thank you for going to every theatre production, dance and vocal recital, every cheerleading competition and game. Thank you for allowing me to find my own way. Thank you for allowing me to find my own voice, a voice in which also echos yours. Thank you for just being you.

Just when you think I wasn't listening or paying attention, I prove to you that I got the lesson and that I am. Some women don't want to turn into their mothers when they get older but I'm the opposite; I want to be just like you and I see it becoming more evident every single day. I hope that one day when I have a family of my own that I can be a reflection of you and all the wonderful things you have taught me. I hope my children will see in me what I see in you. I Love you much!!!!!!!
